COMPANY HISTORY

Two powerful partners join forces to form a highly dynamic company

In 1994, the companies Ernst Krause & Co. and Mauser-Werke Oberndorf Maschinenbau GmbH joined their forces and merged into an international group.  This merger saw the integration of two expert machine tool manufacturing companies – both of which came from a background of rich traditions.

History Krause

1905
FErnst Krauser founds a company for the manufacture of high-precision machine tools in Vienna. The production programme of this initial period includes lathes, milling and material testing machines.
1925
The company begins the manufacture of three-wheel vans.
1931
The company achieves a leading position in the fine boring market. The first European fine boring machine is launched onto the market.
1955
The company specializes in custom-made finish machining solutions with a focus on cylinder heads and blocks.
1985
The first NC boring heads are developed.
1993
Entry into the complete machining field.

History Mauser

1812
The royal armaments factory in Oberndorf is founded.
1867
A new type of action is developed for breech loading rifles.
1920
The company expands its production to include measuring devices, industrial sewing machines, automobiles, adding and lettering machines.
1956
The production range is further enlarged to include special machines and transfer lines.
1976
Coordinate measuring machines are integrated into the product programme.
1980
Development of machining centres.
1982
The first fully automatic assembly lines are produced.
1992
Development and reference installation of large, fully flexible, machining systems.

History Krause & Mauser

1994
The Krause and Mauser companies are merged.
1995
Innovative cracking technologies for machining connecting rods. Due to laser notching and high-precision finish machining the same accuracies can be reached which up to now could only be achieved by additional honing.
1997
Reference installations for dry machining systems, as well as flexible machining centre using standard modules and flexible transfer lines.
2000
Foundation of KRAUSE & MAUSER US Inc.
2001
Take-over of TIANI Automationstechnik GmbH, a qualified manufacturer of loading equipment and linkage systems with a unique and patented shifting transport system for connecting rods.
2003
Integration of feiba engineering & plants GmbH in the KRAUSE & MAUSER machine tool group – a qualified manufacturer of welding machines for car body and chassis parts.
New generation of PS machining centre out of the modular construction kit.
2005
Foundation of  KRAUSE & MAUSER CHINA Co., Ltd.
2007
PS Invers³: Symbiosis of a Machining Centre and a Special Purpose Machine.
2008
Integration of honing and laser structuring technologies.
2010
Integration of ball burnishing technology.
